Should you stay in Goreme for balloons?
For many first-time visitors, yes. Goreme has the largest concentration of rooftop hotels and gives you the classic sunrise atmosphere. It is also the easiest base for restaurants and tours.
Do not pay extra only for one photo.
If a premium room costs much more, make sure you are paying for something you will actually use—private terrace, hot tub, better room size or privacy—not only a marketing image with balloons.
